I am going on my 3rd year as the Middle School science teacher here in High Island I.S.D. The Middle School has three levels which include 6th Grade Earth Sciences, 7th Grade Life Sciences, and 8th Grade Physical Sciences. Each level builds on the next until it’s time for the 8th Graders to shine and show us what they’ve learned when they take the STAAR test in May.
Prior to working for HIISD I was a Registared Dental Hygienist for 11 years. I worked in private practice in The Woodlands, Mont Belvieu and Humble until I retired and transitioned into education. Educating our students in Science was a natural transition from educating my patients.
My family and I have lived in High Island since 2018. I have called the Houston Area my home since 1987. My husband and I have 6 children and 2 grandchildren. On the weekends we are either heavy into baseball or softball. Always on the go!
I graduated from Kingwood High School and went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Houston in 1997. Even though I love history, I also have a great interest in Science. I eventually went back to school and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Lone Star College in 2007 . I worked as a registered hygienist for over a decade and decided to apply my professional experience into the classroom. In August 2018 I was blessed to have joined the faculty and staff of High Island I.S.D. as the middle school science teacher.
We worked hard last year and earned a Science distinction and an A rating for High Island Schools.
Way to go Cardinals!!!
