Middle School English
I began teaching in High Island in August of 2019 and just finished my second year. I teach ELAR for grades 6-8.
Prior to coming to High Island ISD, I worked for 16 years in Pasadena ISD in Pasadena, TX. I had one year in 4th grade and the rest of my time was 5th/6th grade at the middle school level. Some years I did 5th grade only, some were 6th grade only, and most were 5th and 6th grade. Before working in Pasadena ISD, I was in Pearland ISD working in 6th grade for 6 years.
I worked my way through college at a daycare in Lumberton, TX then at Sylvan Learning Center in Beaumont, TX. I also spent the majority of my childhood babysitting for family and friends of my parents so teaching has always been in my blood.
I am not married and do not have children of my own although I have 15 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews. I am the oldest of seven kids: 4 girls and 2 boys. I did not attend school in High Island but having grown up in Beaumont, I spent nearly every summer in Bolivar/Crystal Beach/High Island. My aunt lived near Rollover Pass and my best friend’s family owned a beach house near the Bolivar lighthouse so we were there a lot. The beach is my happy place and I am honored to be working for such a great district.
When I am not teaching I am reading, fishing, reading, painting, writing poetry, reading, crocheting blankets, taking pictures, and reading. I know I said reading multiple times but reading is my passion so I do it A LOT. I also like to listen to music and watch movies.
